Express-PRA zu Archips micaceana

[English machine translation]

The leafroller Archips micaceana, presumably native to India and Southeast Asia, is not yet found in the EU.

It is not currently listed in the annexes of Regulation (EU) 2019/2072 or with EPPO.

Archips micaceana is highly polyphagous and infests, among other plants, apples, mangoes, citrus fruits, avocados, grapevines, peaches, sunflowers, and soybeans.

It is assumed that A. micaceana cannot establish itself outdoors in Germany due to unsuitable climatic conditions, but its establishment in southern European EU member states cannot be ruled out. Establishment in protected cultivation also cannot be ruled out.

Due to its high potential for causing harm to a wide variety of host plants, A. micaceana poses a significant phytosanitary risk to southern EU Member States. Based on this risk analysis, there is reason to believe that A. micaceana could become established in southern Member States and cause considerable damage.

Therefore, measures should be taken to prevent the introduction of this potential quarantine pest in accordance with Article 29 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031. The consignment in question must therefore be destroyed, treated, or rejected in accordance with Article 29 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031. Any evidence of the pest must be reported to the competent authority. Plant protection services report to the JKI (Julius Kühn Institute), and private individuals, companies, or other institutions report to the plant protection service of their respective federal state.

Further information can be found at: https://pflanzengesundheit.julius-kuehn.de/meldepflichtfuer-neue-schadorganismen.html.
