A. bungii is a pest of important fruit and ornamental trees grown in the PRA area. It may attack and kill healthy trees. A. bungii has already been introduced into the PRA area on 3 different occasions. Eradication or containment are moderately likely in the case of an early detection, but early detection is difficult because of the hidden life stages of the pest and the fact that it might not be detected before it has already established and caused damage.
