9e760703-7d03-4f04-9879-a6c73eca6968 Germany 2026-04-23 Citrus concave gum-associated virus (CCGaV), first described in Italy, had not previously been found in Germany. It is not yet listed in the annexes of Regulation (EU) 2019/2072 or with the EPPO.

The virus infects apple and citrus trees.

It can be assumed that, due to suitable climatic conditions, CCGaV can establish itself outdoors in warmer regions of Germany, at least, and that establishment in other EU member states, at least in Central and Southern Europe, is also possible.

Based on current knowledge, CCGaV poses a rather low phytosanitary risk for Germany. For southern EU member states, the risk is probably higher, but can be significantly reduced through cultivation measures. CCGaV is therefore not classified as a quarantine pathogen, and Article 29 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031 is therefore not applicable. However, it is recommended to use CCGaV-free starting material for propagating host plants.
