Swedish risk ranking of plant pests: additional species assessed – Report no. 2, 2026

Description

SLU Risk Assessment of Plant Pests was requested by the Swedish Board of Agriculture (NPPO) to conduct a risk ranking of a target group of plant pests relevant to Sweden from a phytosanitary perspective. The risk ranking model FinnPRIO (Heikkilä et al. 2016) is used for the assessments and subsequent rankings. A description of the project aim, scope and methodology is presented in another report, i.e. Boberg and Björklund (2026).

This report presents the results of FinnPRIO assessments for a new batch of 14 species that were subsequently ranked together with 119 previously assessed species.

The following 14 species have now been added:

Anthonomus bisignifer [ANTHBI]
Anthonomus signatus [ANTHSI]
Begomovirus birdi [BGYMV0]
Begomovirus costai [BGMV00]
Begomovirus cucurbitapeponis [SLCV00]
Begomovirus solanumvariati [TOMOV0]
Curtovirus betae [BCTV00]
Exomala orientalis [ANMLOR]
Phyrdenus muriceus [PHRDMU]
Ralstonia syzygii subsp. indonesiensis [RALSSI]
Rhigopsidius tucumanus [RHGPTU]
Xiphinema americanum (sensu stricto) [XIPHAA]
Xiphinema bricolense [XIPHBC]
Xiphinema rivesi (non-EU populations) [XIPHRI]

Risk scores for each pest are presented in the risk ranking.
