Description

This Quickscan was prompted by the finding of the nematode species Meloidogyne silvestris on roots of Ilex aquifolium, Ulmus hollandica and U. glabra trees in the Netherlands. This is only the second report of this nematode species worldwide. Until this finding, it had only been reported from Spain in 2009 and the current area of distribution is highly uncertain. There are no reports of economic damage caused by the species. The species is not under official control in the EU.
