Observations on the biological characteristics of the corn bark-beetle Pagiocerus frontalis (Fabricius, 1801) were conducted in its native range and the possibility of its spread across Europe was analyzed. Under laboratory conditions, the population growth dynamics of the pest’s offspring on corn kernels were tracked, and experiments were conducted to study the environmental factors limiting the pest’s distribution in northern latitudes.

Резюме. Проведены наблюдения за биологическими особенностями кукурузного короеда Pagiocerus frontalis (Fabricius, 1801) в условиях автохтонного ареала и проанализирована возможность расселения этого вида на территории Европы. В лабораторных условиях прослежена динамика роста численности потомства вредителя на зерновках кукурузы и проведены эксперименты по изучению экологических факторов, ограничивающих распространение вредителя в северных широтах.
