Rapid Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) for Aphis nerii

Description

Aphis nerii Boyer de Fonscolombe (Hemiptera: Aphididae), commonly known as oleander aphid or milkweed aphid is present in parts of Europe and was identified in London, 2014. An update to the 2002 PRA (MacLeod, 2002) was initiated to determine the implications of this establishment and the impacts the pest may have in the UK. This rapid PRA shows that Aphis nerii is a minor pest of several ornamental species that is likely to continue to enter the UK, but can only establish in protected or sheltered conditions and is likely to cause only minor impacts.
