Express-PRA for Glaucias subpunctatus

Description

English machine translation:

The stink bug Glaucias subpunctatus, native to Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia, is not yet found in Germany or anywhere else in the EU. It is not currently listed in the annexes of Regulation (EU) 2019/2072 or with the EPPO. Glaucias subpunctatus infests a wide variety of plant species and causes extensive damage to the fruit of citrus, peaches, pears, and persimmons in Japan. The bug appears to depend on Chamaecyparis obtusa and Cryptomeria japonica to complete its life cycle. It is uncertain whether G. subpunctatus can also complete its life cycle on other plant species, although there are indications that it might. It cannot be ruled out that, given suitable climatic conditions, G. subpunctatus could establish itself outdoors, at least in warmer regions of Germany; establishment in other, particularly more southerly, EU member states is very likely. Due to its high damage potential to fruits from various families, G. subpunctatus poses a significant risk to Germany and other EU Member States. Based on this risk analysis, there is reason to believe that G. subpunctatus could establish itself in Germany or another Member State and cause considerable damage. Therefore, measures should be taken to prevent the introduction of this potential quarantine pest in accordance with Article 29 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031. The consignment in question must therefore be destroyed, treated, or rejected in accordance with Article 29 of Regulation (EU) 2016/2031. Any evidence/findings of the pest must be reported to the competent authority; plant protection services report to the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI); private individuals, companies, or other institutions report to the plant protection service of their respective federal state.
