This Quick scan was prompted by the interception of two larvae of Sesamia calamistis on corn cobs imported from Senegal. The organism is not known to be present in the EU. It is present in sub-Saharan Africa where it is a pest on Poaceae. The risk of the species for the EU is assessed to be low because of unfavourable climatic conditions for establishment.
