EPPO Report of a Pest Risk Analysis for Meloidogyne luci & M. ethiopica (root-knot nematodes)
Description
Based on this PRA, M. luci and M. ethiopica were added to the EPPO Lists of pests recommended for regulation as quarantine pests in 2023 . Measures for a number of commodities are recommended.
M. luci and M. ethiopica meet all the criteria to qualify as quarantine pests. In particular, M. luci has a restricted distribution in the EPPO region, and M. ethiopica absent from the EPPO region, and both species could cause significant damage if it were introduced in new areas. Risk management measures should be considered.
