Scientific opinion on the possibilities for penetration and settlement of Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Bacterial cancer on kiwi) in the territory of Bulgaria

Description

СТАНОВИЩЕ за възможностите за навлизане и установяване на Pseudomonas syringae pv.actinidiae (бактериален рак по киви) в Р България и възможни последствия за производството на плодове

In Bulgarian with English summary

The main way in which Psa could penetrate to the territory of Bulgaria is by import of pollen and plants, intended for planting, originating from third countries or by internal trade in the European Community. With the help of the climate model CLIMEX, it was found that the ecological conditions in some parts of our country are very close to the appropriate conditions for the entrance and development of the pathogen. In the case of penetration to the country, there is a real possibility for the species to settle on the territory. Economic losses in Europe as a result of the Italian Psa epidemic are estimated to be for many millions of euros. The growing production of kiwi in Bulgaria increases the probability of the possible accommodation and spread of the disease. It is difficult to assess the possible consequences for Bulgarian production, but it could be assumed that the pathogen can have a negative impact, both on the production and consumption of native kiwi production and on the country's economy.
