Quickscan Neodiprion Abietis

Description

This Quickscan was initiated after the interception of the sawfly Neodiprion abietis on cut branches of Gaultheria originating in North America. N. abietis is known as a significant forest pest of Abies in North America. European conditions are likely suitable for establishment of the species. The potential impact of N. abietis for Europe is uncertain because European Abies species are different from the Abies species that are severely affected in North America.
